I must have died and gone to pie heaven .. Anna Miller's looked very American to me; I found out in the meantime that it originated in Hawaii. There are however a fair number of branches around Japan.
I visited the one in the Wing shopping center – with your back to Shinagawa station, go up the escalator between McDonald’s and the sandwich shop. The restaurant is immediately to your left at the top.
I had a salad with shrimps that proved to be more filling than I expected at first sight, but I must admit that I really came in to sample their pies: they do a few dozen different ones and I heard nothing but good about them. So, after the salad I had a slice of blueberry pie, then a pecan. Not done, I know, but I simply couldn’t resist. They were both yummmmy! And there is indeed a certain U.S. angle to the place, because my coffee cup was being refilled all the time. Unfortunately, as often is the case here in Japan, the coffee is of the “American blend” variety, or - as I call it - “American bland”. But the pies are definitely, positively something to come back for. [15 May 2004 09:16:19]

Friendly service I have been to this restaurant at various times of the day and night, and only once got turned away just as it was closing. The coffee is endless, and the smiles likewise. The voices of the waitresses can be grating. The food is acceptable, if not up to american standard.
I have been going now for several years every time I visit Tokyo, and I will continue to do so. [08 Aug 2004 18:36:42]

Cured My 'Homesickness' I visited Tokyo for the last 2 weeks in Mar. 07. (I was in Tokyo for the recent 07 World Figure Skating Championships). I was really craving a 'piece of pie & a coffee'. The day was traveling back home to Canada I had to catch my Narita Limousine Airbus @ the Akasaka Excel Hotel & I had about an 1hr & a 1/2 to kill & wander down the street & found the Anna Miller's just down the street by accident. I had a piece of their 'Maroon pie' & my coffee. Well the pie & coffee 'hit the spot' & was just what I was looking for. Best pie & coffee I've ever had! It certainly 'Cured my Homesickenss' at the right time I needed it to be cured. Loved the decor, friendly, prompt service & the price was right. Would certainly recommend this cafe & would return there myself again when given the opportunity. [03 Jun 2007 21:42:39]
