mmmm...Dagwoods Try the roast beef...I don't know where they get it but it's the best in town. Service is decent and the meat portions are worth the money. [13 Jan 2002 22:29:56]

WOW! Friends told me they were great but I didn't know a place could be this good for so cheap! The Dagwood Supreme was my favorite until I had a turkey sandwich - they seem to actually use a "real" turkey; at lease it tastes like Thanksgiving leftovers! The atmosphere is a little drab and the delivery can be long at times but the food is definitely worth the wait. [29 Jan 2002 18:04:05]

Best Sandwiches in Bloomington My favorite is the Hoosier Hoagie with onions, tomato, lettuce, mayo, and of course Dagwood Spicy Sauce. Whatever sandwich you get, go for the Spicy Sauce! [06 Mar 2002 14:10:23]

awesome definitly the best stop for subs and sandwiches in town. Great, friendly service, and the food is unbeatable for the price. [21 Mar 2002 01:06:17]

One of my Bloomington favorites... I've loved Dagwoods since coming here in the early 90's. The service is sometimes slow and spotty, but they at least make it right if you complain. For instance, it's 11:30AM and I've been on hold to make a lunch order for five minutes. "On hold" means the person who answered the phone said, "Can you hold" and then dropped the phone on the counter. No, the phones aren't ringing off the wall; I hear one guy working the register and two others standing fairly close to the phone talking about their plans for tonight.
That about typifies how some of their employees rank customer service.
The quality of the sandwiches make up for it, though. They squash those wimpy things from Subway and Blimpie to pieces!
My favorite is the Italian; great ingredients. Their Supreme has a heavenly "special sauce" on it, too. [04 Jun 2002 12:40:20]

I miss the veggie sub I left Bloomington in 1988 and I have spent many years thinking about how good the vegetarian sub used to be. I have hence moved out west and have not been able to find a veggie sub that compares.
I'm excited to find that you are still around and plan on visiting in August [29 Jul 2002 14:59:36]

Dagwoods is rad Bottom line, Dagwoods is rad. There is nothing else like it. Now that I'm back in St. Louis, we have Jimmy John's but it can't hang Dagwoods. Dagwoods special sauce is offfffffffff da hook. I remember in college having to wait damn near an hour to get a Dagwoods sandwich because they were always so busy. But each and every time it was worth it. [29 Aug 2002 11:11:52]

Best Sandwiches/Worst possible Service The pastrami, which, they run out of often and always, is fantastic but they'll take your order, make you wait then return later and say they're out of pastrami. They'll say the other store has it though, and suggest you go there, then other will take your order, make you wait, then comeback and say the same exact thing: no pastrami, or we forgot to defrost any. This has happened to me almost 6 times in 5-6 months.... so if you want good pastrami, don't say "Do you have pastrami?, say "Do you have pastrami IN THE STORE, right now? Then enjoy GREAT pastrami (Go to the Crosstown store). [02 Nov 2002 23:13:49]

Simply the best! I discovered Dagwood's in the early 1990's while at IU. My mouth waters everytime I think of the place! In fact, whenever I am back in Bloomington, I make it a point to stop in and get a sub, if not a few for a reward for the drive home! I will agree if you are looking for outstanding service or a great atmosphere look elsewhere. For you see at this place it's all about the food. HEAVY subs for 5 bucks, piled generously high with all the goodies. MMMMMM Don't ever settle for those national chains if you're anywhere near Bloomington! Dagwood's rocks!! [05 Nov 2002 02:33:42]

order taken while i'm still on the stairs!!!!! I'm now back in Singapore and think about my college days in IU every single day. Really missed the place and of course, the amount of food they have off campus for such a small town is mind boggling. Dagwood's hold special memories as that was my first date there, over a veggie sub sandwich. And from there, that would be my regular order so much so that....um, I forget the owner's name, is it....andy? tom? anyway, he would remember my order and even when I was plodding down the stairs, he would catch sight of my worn-out purple Doc Martens and put the order for a veggie sub in even before I reached the counter. Now that's what I call personal service! When I left for New York to work, I was really despondent to leave Dagwood's and even asked if he could send me frozen sandwiches there. I'm now currently in Singapore, happily married and my husband dragged out this url for me to reminisce. I am SO psyched that its still around and it is worth a visit to BL if only to sink my teeth in a Dagwood's! [28 Feb 2003 04:25:43]
