Description

Fine Thai dining in a renovated Victorian home, this place was featured in a movie scene "Breaking Away" when it was a restaurant by the name of The Magic Horn. This restaurant is owned by Wim Pok, a native of Thailand and long time manager. The restaurant uses Thai chefs to prepare the entrees, where the preparation techniques differ from other cuisines. When ordering a dish, be sure to ask about the spiciness of a paticular entree since it may vary from the same dish served elsewhere. Don't order the "Thai Hot" dishes unless you have an extreme tolerance for spices. They have vegan and vegetarian dishes to fit specific tastes. They also have an extensive wine list. The decor features paintings on the walls and other art work focused on the Thailand culture.

Great Thai Dinning
Service is very good and the food is great. Have been here several times with no complaints. If you have mild taste buds be sure to order your meal with a one pepper rating.    [26 Jan 2004 21:12:20]

Terrible service!!!
My past two trips to the Siam House were among the worst of all my dining experiences. A year ago, in the summer, my friends and I went there. The waitress did not even utter a word of apology. I revisited the place this past Sunday. The waiter did not bother to ask about our orders after 20 minutes since we came in, even if the restaurant is two-thirds empty (and there were about 6 or 7 tables of guests). He walked past our table at least three times without even bothering to take a drink order. So my friend and I simply got up and left. We usually tip at least 20% for waiters who bother to take orders. I think it is best to spend the money somewhere else!    [12 May 2004 15:35:35]

gotta agree with WL
I've given Siam many chances, and after so many, we've given up. They can be fine (never fantastic) but then they can be appallingly bad. The food on the buffet is often greasy and has been sitting out for a long time (witness the thick film and dried-out noodles and veggies on the tops of each selection). I like the idea of this place and I want really badly to like it, but I think they should do a better job with the buffet--fresher items, etc.    [06 Sep 2004 16:47:33]
